The League

Stride eSports

MGLVA is now part of the newly formed Stride K12 Esports League, where students compete against other Stride K12 student players from around the country. Here, students can test out their skills in a private league of their peers and play against various schools, with additional signups available throughout the year.

League FAQ

Is there a cost to play in the league?

All games are free to play and have modest hardware requirements. Students may be able to use the same computer as the one they use for school. Please note that players are required to furnish their own gaming hardware such as a PC, Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo Switch.

What is the time commitment for league participation?

Students should expect to devote a minimum of three hours per week outside of normal school hours, with a mandatory one-hour practice session. Competitive matches will take place in the evenings on a weekly basis. Students are encouraged to organize and participate in additional practices on their own time. Currently, all league activities are scheduled to occur Monday through Friday, except on national holidays and during official school breaks. Voluntary activities may be scheduled during these times later in the season.

What are the eligibility requirements to participate in the league?

All students must be at least 13 years of age to play in the league. Players considered to be at the professional level are not allowed to participate in the league. They should also be able to make the time commitment to participate in league activities. Additionally, students must be enrolled full-time at MGLVA. As part of the application process, the student athlete and learning coach must read, fill out, and sign the permission forms found in the handbook sent to them. For a more in depth look at the probation standards, please read the information in the following link.

Probation Standards [PDF]

How will students communicate and organize practices?

A school sponsored and monitored Discord forum will be made available where students will be able to build a community, share tips, and organize practice sessions.

I want to play a game not offered by the league, what should I do?

A limited selection of games is currently available. We plan to expand game offerings in the future as the program grows. Suggestions will be taken into consideration and are appreciated.
